The day started with a cup of coffee followed by a breakfast of Poha. By 11 we were ready for the Hurda. We gave the sugarcane juice a miss because we overdid the Hurda; it was so tasty. Soon to be followed by a very tasty and wholesome lunch.

The quiet and lovely natural settings inspired Anupda to play some old numbers on his Harmonica for us. The video is apparently a little long so not uploading properly. After feeling thoroughly rested and spoiled, even though the little birds kept me on my toes the whole day, we made our way back home after purchasing some garden fresh leafy vegetables from the neighbouring farmers. It was certainly a day well spent.

ReplyDeleteThankyou for providing such a wonderful experience to us. We are still talking about it. Wish you all the best in your endeavours to provide a taste and feel of rural Maharashtra so close to a big city.
DeleteA beautiful morning progressed slowly and we really forgot rest of the world. The writer has done an equally good job to take us back again n again to the Memory Lane as we read.

ReplyDelete"Very good write up with photographs. Reminded me of such outings when I was posted in Solapur District during 1974-78."
Thank you so much, Rambhau. As this farm was close to Pune, we made the trip.

ReplyDelete"I have heard about it a lot and even had that hurda. My dad used to get it. But haven’t attended this hurda party . Looks like a really good experience."
This farm is about 40 km away from here. The road is a great drive (if you discount the erratic traffic that occasionally comes at you from various directions). The last time we had taken this road, it was very bad and filled with potholes (about 5 years ago). The Borkar farm is planning little cottages for an overnight stay which are under construction and should be ready in the next few weeks. They feed you breakfast and lunch and roasted "Hurda".In between they take you for a field visit to their nursery, dairy etc. There are lots of birds and butterflies and best of all - a day off from hectic office routines.

ReplyDelete"Narration is so live, I am feeling the taste of Hurda..
Actually, my Dad had a big farm in my childhood days and I have enjoyed a lot with rural products like Bazra, jundhri etc.. This seems to like that... 😀"
Thanks for visiting the post and sharing your experience.
